A Brand New Acronym For Bad Days

Holly's Poop

Regular readers of my blog posts are already familiar with my original POETS acronym story – Piss On Everything Tomorrow’s Saturday!

It was something to remember on Fridays – especially those not going well.

Essentially, it gave hope that tomorrow would be a better day.

But today, my Holly Golightly gave a new meaning to the POETS acronym.

It now means Poop On Everything Today’s Saturday!

In case you are a new reader – Holly Golightly is my dog.

My Holly Golightly – she’s a Coton de Tulear.

She’s fourteen years old and has been going through a rough period for several days.

I wrote about her ordeal in the Holly’s Boo Boo post.

Yesterday, I was relieved that Holly was finally eating her regular food!

And she ate like she hadn’t eaten in a week – and she hadn’t eaten in almost a week because of diarrhea.

But the meds finally kicked in – thanks to the staff of an animal clinic in White Rock.

The photo I took for this short story is Holly’s poop.  I never thought I would write a poop story, much less include a poop photo!

Later today, I will drive to Coquitlam for my appointment with the oral surgeon.  His main office is in Vancouver, but I prefer the drive to his office in Coquitlam.

So, I am celebrating the Holly milestone today and worried about my buddy Norm (the northern one).

He is facing another serious health challenge, but I cannot go into specifics – out of respect for his privacy.

But I will pray for him and hope you will, too.

UPDATE:  Noon (Saturday)

Holly went poop again – twice in less than 15 minutes.  That’s three times, and all of the stools were firm!

For once, I like ‘shitty days!’

I’m leaving now to see the surgeon.  I will still be smiling – regardless of the outcome.

UPDATE:  5:00 PM (Saturday)

I just got home from my appointment with the surgeon.  He examined my mouth and said it appeared to be healing very slowly, so he gave me a prescription for another round of antibiotics – but it will be different than the antibiotics I took after the surgery.

But he said he would not need to see me until September, so all things considered, that’s good news!

And although Holly was alone for the past five hours, she did not have an accident (pee or poop), so that’s great, too!

The drugstore could not give me the antibiotics in liquid form, so I had to go to a pharmacy that does compound medicines.  But I will do that in the morning – it has been a long day.

Dedicated to Holly’s poop (the solid kind)

I hope my stories are a gift to your head and heart.

Hugs,

Danny

Bad Day – Daniel Powter

Where is the moment we needed the most?
You kick up the leaves, and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to gray
They tell me your passion’s gone away
And I don’t need no carryin’ on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You’re faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life’s been way offline
You’re falling to pieces every time
And I don’t need no carryin’ on

Because you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me, don’t lie
You work at a smile, and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down, and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Will you need a blue sky holiday?
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don’t need no carryin’ on

You had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me, don’t lie
You work at a smile, and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down, and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day
(Ooh, a holiday)

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back, and you know
That you could be well, oh, that strong
And I’m not wrong
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

So where is the passion when you need it the most?
Oh, you and I
You kick up the leaves, and the magic is lost

‘Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile, and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You’ve seen what you’re like
And how does it feel?
One more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Had a bad day (Ah)
Had a bad day (ah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Had a bad day (Ah)
