Covers Worth Hearing

Last year, I watched a young Asian man, singing a Jim Reeves classic, which almost brought me to tears.

It is a beautiful, Jim Reeves song, and the cover is performed by Jajai Singsit, from North East India.

His voice is a loving tribute to Jim Reeves, his idol.

I posted the video last year on one of my Facebook groups, and I still get comments from people.

So, after receiving two comments today about that video I posted – I decided to go to YouTube and see if Jajai has done any other covers of classic songs.

And there were three more covers that I liked; the first, a Don Williams cover, the second, a Conway Twitty cover, and the third, a Michael Buble cover.

So, I thought I would post all four of his covers on this page instead of writing another story for a change.

Please view/listen to this talented guy.  He has more videos on YouTube – so why not check him out?

Here are my favorite covers by Jajai:

May The Good Lord Bless and Keep You (Jim Reeves)

May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You – lyrics

May the good Lord bless and keep you
Whether near or far away
May you find that long-awaited
Golden day today

May your troubles all be small ones
And your fortunes ten times ten
May the good Lord bless and keep you
Till we meet again

May you walk with sunlight shining
And a bluebird in every tree
May there be a silver lining
Back of every cloud, you see

Fill your dreams with sweet tomorrows
Never mind what might have been
May the good Lord bless and keep you
Till we meet again

May you walk with sunlight shining
And a bluebird in every tree
May there be a silver lining
Back of every cloud, you see

Fill your dreams with sweet tomorrows
Never mind what might have been
May the good Lord bless and keep you
Till we meet again

May the good Lord bless and keep you
Till we meet, (Till we meet)
Till we meet again…

You’re My Best Friend (Don Williams)

You’re My Best Friend – lyrics

You placed gold on my finger
You brought love like I’ve never known
You gave life to our children
And to me, a reason to go on

You’re my bread when I’m hungry
You’re my shelter from troubled winds
You’re my anchor in life’s ocean
But most of all you’re my best friend

When I need hope and inspiration
You’re always strong when I’m tired and weak
I could search this whole world over
You’d still be everything that I need

You’re my bread when I’m hungry
You’re my shelter from troubled winds
You’re my anchor in life’s ocean
But most of all you’re my best friend

You’re my bread when I’m hungry
You’re my shelter from troubled winds
You’re my anchor in life’s ocean
But most of all you’re my best friend

But most of all you’re my best friend

Don’t Cry Joni (Conway Twitty)

Don’t Cry Joni – lyrics

Jimmy, please say you’ll wait for me
I’ll grow up someday you’ll see
Savin’ all my kisses just for you
Signed with love forever true

Joni was the girl who lived next door
I’ve known her I guess 10 years or more
Joni wrote me a note one day
And this is what she had to say

Jimmy, please say you’ll wait for me
I’ll grow up someday you’ll see
Savin’ all my kisses just for you
Signed with love forever true

Slowly I read her note once more
Then I went over to the house next door
Her teardrops fell like rain that day
When I told Joni what I had to say

Joni, Joni, please don’t cry
You’ll forget me by and by
You’re just fifteen I’m twenty-two
And Joni, I just can’t wait for you

Soon I left our little hometown
Got me a job and tried to settle down
But her words kept haunting my memory
The words that Joni said to me

Jimmy, please say you’ll wait for me
I’ll grow up someday you’ll see
Savin’ all my kisses just for you
Signed with love forever true

I packed my clothes, and I caught a plane
I had to see Joni; I had to explain
How my heart was filled with her memory
And ask my Joni if she’d marry me

I ran all the way to the house next door
But things weren’t like they were before
My teardrops fell like rain that day
When I heard what Joni had to say

Jimmy, Jimmy, please don’t cry
You’ll forget me by and by
It’s been five years since you’ve been gone
Jimmy, I married your best friend, John.

Home (Michael Buble)

Home – lyrics

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna come home, mmm

May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Just wanna go home
I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters
That I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
I’m fine baby, how are you?

I would send them, but I know
That it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another airplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
I got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far
From where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like
I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right

And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
That this was not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day
Has come and gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people
I still feel alone
Oh, let me go home
I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home

Let me go home
It’ll all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

I hope you like Jajai Singsit’s versions of the covers I selected.

And you are probably relieved that this was not another one of my boring stories.

UPDATE: 8:15 PM – ThursdayI forgot to mention that Holly is doing much better.  I have changed vets and I am taking her to the vets once in the morning and once in the afternoon for them to administer the meds to Holly.  That will be for five days, so I am hoping that whatever has been bothering her tummy stops. ~ Danny

Dedicated to my gal pal, Dorothy Robilliard, who turns 96 on July 31st!

I hope my stories are a gift to your head and heart.

Hugs,

Danny
