I sometimes get choked up because of something that breaks my heart – and this picture of Chona’s grandnephew is worth a thousand words.

His name is Jayce Lore Astley, and Chona is one of my gal pals from the Vancouver Venturers Walking Club.
Jayce is just four years old and was diagnosed with All-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Chona said they have a GoFundMe page that her niece’s friend has organized to raise funds for their family’s needs because her niece cannot work and must remain home to care for him.
Last night, Jayce was running a fever, but the oncologist will start a series of Chemotherapy sessions for him today if he is feeling better.
It’s heartbreaking to see this little boy undergoing such a procedure.
Their family was scheduled to move to Calgary in July, but I don’t know if those plans will go ahead if Jayce is still in treatment.
I have already donated to the GoFundMe page and hope that my readers will be able to spare a few bucks to help them raise funds for the family.
Children are so precious, and seeing them in this state is heartbreaking.
I hope they reach their goal of raising funds – and here, once again, is the link to the GoFundMe page:
I will resume writing stories when the fundraising finishes.
Thank you for your generosity and prayers for this brave, young cancer warrior!
UPDATE – Thursday, April 27th
Chona sent me an update and a few photos of Jayce.
Here is what she wrote:
Thank you for sharing the story of my grand nephew. He started chemotherapy yesterday at 3:00 pm. It’s hard for a little guy like him; the treatment’s effects kicked in around 6:00, low energy, sore body, and vomiting. He was given morphine and felt better. He played his games after that. The family is extending their gratitude to you.
Chona

Dedicated to Jayce Lore Astley.
I hope my stories are a gift to your head and heart.
Hugs,
Danny
Today’s tune from Danny’s library (purchased):
Am I really here in your arms?
It’s just like I dreamed it would be
I feel like we’re frozen in time
You’re the only one I can see
Hey, I’ve lived all my life for you
Now, you’re here
Hey, I’ll spend all my life with you
All my life
And I never really knew how to love
I just hope somehow I’d see
Oh, I asked for a little help from above
Send that angel down to me
Hey, I’ve lived all my life for you
Now, you’re here
Hey, I’ll spend all my life with you
All my life
All my life
Never thought that I could feel a love so tender
Never thought I can let those feelings show
But now my heart is on my sleeve
And this love will never leave
I know
I know
Hey, I’ve lived all my life for you
And now you’re here
(Now, you’re here)
Hey, I’ll spend (hey!) all my life with you
(I’ll spend all my life with you)
All my life (all my life)
Hey, I’ve lived all my life for you
And now, you’re here
(Now, you’re here)
Hey, I’ll spend all my life with you
