Regular readers know that I purchased every song I put on my website, and my library consists of over 12,000+ purchased songs. I have never downloaded anything for free—I always pay for my music.

Artists deserve to be paid for their work – would you work for free?

I always include a song in each of the 400+ short stories I have written and posted on my website.

I also have a page on my website containing at least a dozen songs, and I change the selection every few days.

I decided to minimize my purchases from iTunes because of the difficulties I continue to have with purchasing from them. For instance, the last time I tried to buy an album, I got a message that my password wasn’t correct – even though I’ve used the same password for years!

So, yesterday, I searched Google for alternate online sources for buying music and came across Bandcamp.com. They give artists about 85% of the revenue from the sales of their tunes! Compare that with the small fraction they get from iTunes and others.

Fans have paid artists $1.42 billion using Bandcamp and $194 million in the last year.

Trash Twang & Thunder features 12 sizzling instrumentals by six of Austin’s most renowned musicians: Denny Freeman, Evan Johns, Frankie Camaro, Don Leady, Mike Buck, and Keith Ferguson. The album received prestigious recognition and was widely recognized by the industry when, in 1985, it was nominated for a Grammy Award. That same year, N.A.I.R.D. presented the Big Guitars with an Honorable Mention Award.

I’ve listened to the album and will purchase more albums by this group.
